The primary benefit I derive from belonging to the German American Chamber of Commerce in Philadelphia is the opportunity to socialize with many of my corporate clients and prospects, who are also members of GACC, at the various events and activities held during the year. Regardless of what business you are in—I happen to be in banking—the more you see and really get to know your clients, the better and longer lasting your relationships will be. An important secondary benefit is keeping abreast of German American business and economic issues. Lastly, I find working with our highly dedicated and energetic GACC Philadelphia board members to be a distinct pleasure.

We have joined our local GACC chapter as it enables us to network with potential new customers, manufacturers, and service providers. GACC helps us stay in touch with a global network and content that has a local impact on us. It helps us mitigate risk and increase revenue and also profitability

Being a member of the German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC) has allowed me to connect with other professionals in the Philadelphia region who care about German-American relations. GACC provides excellent opportunities to learn about the various linkages between the two countries. I was particularly excited to join GACC in celebrating Frankfurt and Philadelphia becoming Sister Cities and welcoming Frankfurt’s delegation to Philadelphia. GACC not only fosters business relationships between Germany and United States, but also plays an active role in promoting German-American friendship. It’s exciting to be a part of this group.

Membership at the German American Chamber of Commerce provided invaluable experience to accompany my degree when entering the professional world. Attending the many events the Chamber holds allowed me to start building a network in the Philadelphia region while still in university. An aspect I find particularly interesting is that the Chamber is not limited to one sector, meaning you meet people from a variety of different fields and various professions. Additionally, there are a plethora of opportunities for students looking to become more involved and ingrained in the German-American business community through the GACC. My own experience includes attending educational seminars to remain current on global relations, meeting established professionals in the area, and welcoming a business delegation from the state of Brandenburg. It was my membership with GACC that directly resulted in my post graduate position with one of our corporate members.
