Find out more about the German-style Apprenticeship Model and existing programs in Pennsylvania.

Many businesses in Pennsylvania today face the challenge of filling positions with skilled workers. Workplace automation will be changing the demand for highly skilled workers in the future, and therefore the workforce development landscape must also adapt. Apprenticeships are a proven way to meet the growing demand for a highly-skilled workforce, and have therefore been embraced by Governor Wolf’s PASmart initiative. He states that “Registered apprenticeship programs provide students and workers with the hands-on experience needed for growing careers, while strengthening the pipeline of talented workers that businesses need.” For students, apprenticeships are also a competitive option to be part of the workforce without getting into tremendous financial debt. For businesses, apprenticeships provide the benefit of industry-specific skills development.

State Representative Steve Malagari and MontcoWorks, Montgomery County’s Workforce Development Board, have partnered to invite you to an informative event on effective apprenticeships models.

At this event, the German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. will introduce the German Apprenticeship Model and how GACC can support interested companies to establish a German-style apprenticeship program. In addition, experts from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry will explain how they can support businesses in PA who are interested in implementing apprenticeship models
